Ellen is a skilled commercial litigator with a particular focus on health law and professional negligence. She provides strategic legal counsel to clients navigating complex regulatory, administrative and litigation matters. Ellen has represented clients before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal and various administrative tribunals.
In her health law practice, Ellen represents and advises clients in regulatory and administrative complaints before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. She also handles medical negligence claims, assisting clients in a variety of medical specialties and practice settings.
Ellen’s commercial litigation practice encompasses a broad range of areas, including contractual disputes, employment matters and partnership disputes. She has also been involved in domestic and international arbitrations and mediations, providing effective resolution strategies for her clients.
Outside of her practice, Ellen is actively engaged in the legal community. She serves on the Executive Board of the Canadian Bar Association Health Law Section (Alberta South) and has contributed to the Annotated Alberta Employment Standards Code. She is also a member of the Calgary Bar Association.
Ellen’s passion for public service and advocacy began during law school, where she volunteered with Student Legal Assistance, the Pro Bono Students Canada Human Rights Project, and the Women’s Centre of Calgary. She also participated in an exchange program at the University of Graz in Austria.
