Ruth Promislow has been appointed to the Steering Committee of The Sedona Conference's Working Group 11 on Data Security and Privacy Liability. This appointment follows Ruth’s work as an active member of the Sedona Conference Working Group 11’s drafting teams.
The mission of the Working Group is to identify and comment on cutting-edge trends in data security and privacy law, and develop best practices to:
- help organizations take action before and after a data breach to minimize their legal exposure;
- inform affected parties of their rights and responsibilities; and
- assist in the coordination of regulatory, law enforcement, and judicial responses to data breach and related incidents.
Steering Committee members take a leadership role in pursuing in-depth study of tipping point issues in law. The goal of Working Groups is to produce high-quality, non-partisan commentary and guidance of immediate, practical benefit to the bench and bar. The Sedona Conference is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in several areas including privacy and data protection, antitrust law, complex litigation and intellectual property rights.
