For the ninth consecutive year, Bennett Jones has been ranked as an Alberta’s Top Employer. This special designation recognizes the province’s employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
Employee wellness is the focus of Alberta’s Top Employers for 2019. Employers across the province are going to considerable lengths to improve wellness in their workplaces.
Here are some of the reasons why Bennett Jones was selected again this year:
- Along with extensive in-house training initiatives, Bennett Jones employees receive subsidies for their professional accreditations and may also take advantage of tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.
- Bennett Jones supports employees who are new parents with maternity and parental leave top-up payments, as well as the option to extend their leave into an unpaid leave of absence.
- Bennett Jones encourages employees to lead healthy, active lives with a fitness club subsidy, ranging from $300 to $450 per year.
Kristina Leung, Senior Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project says, “Increasingly, forward-thinking employers are recognizing that promoting wellness isn’t just a matter of ‘doing the right thing’ for their staff. It’s also a smart business decision, as wellness issues can cascade quickly into major expenses that affect the bottom line. From absence costs to the workplace consequences of mental health issues, it’s not only employees who bear the costs of poor wellness practices.”
Alberta's Top Employers evaluates employers in the province using the same criteria as Canada's Top 100 Employers national competition. This includes physical workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial and family benefits; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
