Joseph Blinick is a partner at Bennett Jones LLP practicing corporate commercial litigation, with a particular focus on securities matters, class actions, and bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring proceedings.

His securities practice focuses on shareholder disputes, oppression proceedings, plans of arrangement and regulatory investigations. Joseph was recently recognized by Chambers for his work in the securities space.

Joseph's class actions practice focuses on a wide range of issues.  He was recently involved in a four-week common issues trial resulting in a precedent setting win for Canadian insurers in connection with business interruption insurance claims arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also recently had a representative action against former directors of Katanga Mining seeking $900 million in damages on behalf of minority shareholders dismissed on jurisdictional grounds. 

On the bankruptcy and insolvency side, Joseph frequently represents court-appointed Receivers, creditors, debtors and other stakeholders. 

Joseph acts for a broad range of clients across various industries.  He has extensive motion (including injunction), application, trial and appeal experience before all levels of Court in Ontario, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and a number of other Courts, administrative and regulatory boards, and tribunals.

Joseph is also currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He is a member of the Toronto Lawyers' Association, the Advocates' Society as well as the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations. He is also a registered notary public.

Joseph has also been recognized by Best Lawyers for his work in corporate and commercial litigation.
