On August 10, 2006, the
Employment Pension Plans Amendment Act,
2005 and the
Employment Pension Plans Amendment
Regulation took effect, introducing a series of
long-anticipated amendments to the
Alberta Employment Pension
Plans Act and the
Employment Pension Plans
Regulation. These changes, several of which will require plan
sponsors to amend their plans, affect plans registered in Alberta
as well as plans registered outside of Alberta with Alberta
members.
