Jessica Horwitz spoke on a webinar presented by the International Wood Products Association on Canada’s Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, which is expected to come into force on January 1, 2024.
Jessica shared information about the new reporting requirements included in the law and compliance considerations for entities that do business in Canada. Some companies will have reporting responsibilities for actions taken this year, 2023 before the requirements come into force: “…the Act imposes an obligation…to submit an annual report …on the steps taken during the previous financial year to prevent and reduce the risk that forced labour or child labour is used by them or in their supply chains.”
