Bennett Jones has once again been ranked one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People. This is the seventh consecutive year the firm has been selected as a winning organization. Bennett Jones is one of only two law firms to be named to the list of 100 Canadian organizations.
Canada’s Top Employers for Young People says that young people entering the job market are looking for work that inspires them and gives them a sense of pride and empowerment—and employers are responding. Reasons for Bennett Jones being recognized again include:
- working with various post-secondary institutions such as SAIT Polytechnic, Bow Valley College, MacEwan University and the University of Toronto to hire legal assistant practicum students each year—the 6-week program includes in-house training, rotational assignments, mentoring and job-shadowing opportunities;
- investing significantly in training and development, providing financial support for offsite training and university courses and seminars, and offering in-house mentoring for legal assistants, legal summer students and articling students; and
- maintaining the Bennett Jones Academy, a formal program to provide students and lawyers with extensive, ongoing legal education to help them earn the required credits to maintain their Law Society membership.
Canada's Top Employers for Young People recognizes employers offering the nation's best workplaces and programs for young people starting their careers. Winners are chosen on the basis of the programs and initiatives they offer to attract and retain younger workers.
This year’s winners can be found in the announcement magazine published nationally in The Globe and Mail this morning.
