Eddie Goldenberg writes in Policy Magazine on why dealing with China going forward will be critically important for Canada’s long-term future in a world of two superpowers.
He says that Canada must not ignore the economic, geopolitical and military challenges posed to global security today by China’s greatly augmented capabilities, and must be open, along with our allies, to a coordinated approach to meet these challenges. At the same time, Canada cannot ignore the essential role China must play in addressing overarching global issues like climate change and human health, where there is no room for “friend shoring” or “near shoring”.
