We are currently recruiting for the following role in our Toronto office:

Advisor, Digital Marketing (12 Month Contract)

The Role:

The Advisor, Digital Marketing will play a critical role in executing Bennett Jones' digital marketing strategy and overseeing integrated campaign management. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Technology, this individual will collaborate with industry team leaders and practice group leaders, to deliver tailored digital strategies to support client engagement, business development, and brand visibility. This role is a 12-month contract for a maternity leave coverage.

This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional project management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong ability to lead teams and manage stakeholder relationships. The Advisor, Digital Marketing will oversee the digital marketing team (2 direct reports), manage campaign execution, and ensure all initiatives align with the firm’s broader goals during the contract period.

Partnering with the content team and leading the development of multi-channel campaigns, this role calls for an experienced marketing professional with expertise in digital marketing, project management, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Functions:

Strategy and Scope

  • Collaborate with industry and practice group leaders to develop and implement customized digital marketing strategies that enhance engagement with lawyers and clients, and drive business development objectives
  • Oversee the execution of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with the firm’s branding and business goals, and optimizing for impact across all digital channels
  • Lead the optimization of digital content, including lawyer bios, practice group pages, and campaign assets, ensuring adherence to SEO best practices and user-focused design principles
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve workflow efficiency using automation tools and enhanced team collaboration
  • Provide strategic direction for national and localized digital marketing campaigns by developing creative briefs, communication plans, and roadmaps, ensuring campaigns meet business needs and deliver measurable results
  • Support high-profile, firm-funded business development and sponsorship events by managing the creation of digital content, including website updates, email marketing, social media posts, and advertising
  • Direct the development and execution of content campaigns at the firm, practice, and lawyer levels, from stakeholder briefings to final publication and reporting
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure the seamless operation and optimization of the firm’s website, email marketing platform, and other digital tools to support branding and business development

Project and Team Management

  • Lead and mentor the digital marketing team, managing workloads, setting performance goals, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including content, business development, and IT, to align digital strategies and deliver cohesive client experiences
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, driving alignment on digital strategies and ensuring successful execution of marketing initiative
  • Provide leadership and oversight on key projects, updating stakeholders on progress, identifying potential risks, and ensuring timely delivery of high-priority work
  • Use data and analytics to measure campaign performance, generate actionable insights, and refine strategies for continuous improvement

Stakeholder Engagement and Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders on digital strategy and campaign-related projects, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the process
  • Lead and support existing vendor relationships, fostering collaboration and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that align with project goals and firm objectives

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketing or a related field; experience in professional services or legal marketing is an asset
  • Proven ability to develop and execute tailored digital marketing strategies that meet the diverse needs of stakeholders
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing best practices, including SEO, content optimization, and multi-channel campaign management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring teams in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear and concise strategies and plans to stakeholders
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, marketing platforms, and analytics tools; familiarity with website CMS systems, CRM platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
