Stephanie Henry is featured in Canadian Lawyer to share her insights on what employers are to do when facing employees that are reluctant to come back to work in person.
She says the transition requires a careful, thoughtful and proactive approach. “Employers should sit down and consider: ‘What are our legal obligations? What does our business need and what makes sense for our office or for our organization?’ And then thoughtfully start thinking about how to actually implement it."
Stephanie also says, "While employers have a right to ask employees to do their jobs in a way that is efficient and maximizes their business objectives, they should also keep in mind morale—including the preference for a hybrid model." She warns against displaying differential treatment for any employees as it can create animosity and tension in the workplace.
