On May 9th, Bennett Jones partner Richard Swan joined the OBA's conference on Business Law for Trust and Estate Lawyers to address shareholder remedies in estate planning and questions regarding judicial succession planning.
Held at the OBA Conference Centre at Twenty Toronto Street, the agenda also covered topics such as the role of tax and insurance in family business succession and issue faced by executors and trustees of trusts that include corporate assets.
"My paper was intended to inform and educate about remedies and to offer possible strategies to navigate the risk associated with the remedies", said Swan. "However, it was not intended to be exhaustive on either point" he added.
The paper was very well received as it touched on a number of points of interest to the assembled conference grs including issues pertaining to Estates and Oppression.
