Jeffrey Leon has been selected as co-Lead Commission Counsel to the Public Order Emergency Commission. The Commission is an independent public inquiry following the invocation of the Emergencies Act by the Government of Canada on February 14, 2022.
Jeffrey and co-counsel Shantona Chaudhury are now working with the Commissioner, the Honourable Paul S. Rouleau, to prepare guidelines for interested parties to seek standing before the Commission. The deadline for applications is expected to be in mid-June.
Justice Rouleau says, "I am very pleased that Shantona and Jeff have agreed to lead the team. Their wealth of experience and sound judgment will be invaluable as we carry out the work of the Commission."
