Bennett Jones acting for Calgary Stampede in $550-million deal
The deal to construct a $550-million new Event Centre in Calgary is now official. Bennett Jones is acting for its long-time client, Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Limited, on the project.
The Calgary Herald reported on the signing of the definitive agreements between the Stampede, the City of Calgary and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation.
The Event Centre will include an arena with up to 19,000 seats and may include a second smaller arena. It will also include commercial and retail spaces and its surrounding festival street will be a year-round, permanent gathering place for Calgarians. The Event Centre will replace the Saddledome, the current home of the Calgary Flames, which was built for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.
