Simon Grant is a trusted advisor to leading companies and lenders navigating high-stakes financing and regulatory challenges in Canada’s complex financial landscape. Known for his clarity, strategic insight, and ability to drive deals forward, Simon helps clients unlock opportunity where precision matters most.

With a sharp focus on results, Simon works with corporations, credit funds, and fintech leaders to get deals done—whether structuring secured lending arrangements for mining companies, helping international technology clients comply with payment regulations, or guiding foreign lenders through Canadian secured finance structures. He is known for simplifying complexity, managing risk, and driving transactions forward with precision.

A dual-sector leader, Simon co-heads both the firm’s Banking and Secured Transactions and Fintech groups. In the lending space, he advises sponsors, borrowers, and mining-focused lenders on sophisticated cross-border transactions, secured finance, and intercreditor issues—often collaborating with international counsel. In fintech, he is a trusted advisor to global tech companies entering the Canadian market, guiding them through compliance with Canada’s payments and financial regulatory regimes, including the new Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), without slowing their go-to-market timelines.

Simon is ranked in Chambers Canada (Fintech Guide) and Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for his work in financial services and emerging technology. He is also active in policy discussions through his involvement with committees of the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law.
