Katherine has extensive experience representing physicians in professional regulatory and litigation matters, including professional disciplinary proceedings and medical malpractice actions. She also assists physicians with privileging, billing, human rights and privacy related matters.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Katherine was a flight nurse with a pediatric critical care transport team. Additionally, she completed a Master of Nursing degree focused on advanced practice in child health. Clients benefit from Katherine's unique insights into the legal and ethical challenges that may arise in the delivery of health care.
Katherine's robust health law expertise complements her lived experience as a health care professional, enabling her to provide strategic and multi-faceted advice to a variety of organizations in the health care sector. In addition to her work with physicians, she assists other health care professionals and regulatory bodies with policy review and amendments, employment matters, billing practices, privacy and compliance concerns.
Katherine has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, as well as before various administrative tribunals and appellate panels.
While attending law school, Katherine was actively involved with the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta and served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Alberta Law Review. She also clerked with the Court of Appeal of Alberta from 2013-2014.
Katherine is Co-Chair of the Health Law (North) section of the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch and embraces her role as a passionate and dedicated leader within the health law community.
