Roseann Caldwell began her patent agency career in 1990 with General Electric Canada Inc. and then moved to Bennett Jones in 1993.

As a registered Canadian and United States patent agent, Roseann Caldwell is qualified to practice before the Canadian and the United States Patent Offices and before the World Intellectual Property Office through the provisions of the Patent Cooperation Treaty. She has extensive experience in the procurement and enforcement of patent rights and the strategic management of intellectual property portfolios.

Roseann's patent expertise focuses on mechanical, chemical and biochemical technologies. Being located in Calgary, Alberta, at the centre of Canada's energy industry, Roseann has much experience in the energy and oil and gas industries. For example, Roseann has handled patent matters in the areas of oil sands mining and extraction, nuclear reactor tooling and fuel systems, electrochemical fuel systems, environmental protection equipment and methods, surface and down-hole equipment, chemicals and methods for well bore drilling, completion, treatment and production.

Roseann has been elected as the President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) for the term 2012 to 2013. IPIC is Canada's pre-eminent association of professionals who specialize in intellectual property: patents for inventions, trade-marks, copyright, and industrial designs.

With a keen interest in intellectual property training and awareness, Roseann regularly speaks and publishes on intellectual property matters. As President of IPIC, Roseann has participated in many conferences, meetings and presentations on intellectual property with international associations and sister national organizations. In addition, Roseann has met with Canadian government officials in the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, other departments of Industry Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Prior to her election as President, Roseann served on the board of IPIC for five years and served as the Chair of IPIC's Joint Liaison Committee for Patents from 2007 to 2010.

Roseann is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
