As Senior Advisor, Monique offers insights on corporate governance and business matters tied to her experience as general counsel and senior executive of major corporations for more than 20 years. She is also providing strategic advice on the expansion of the firm in Quebec.
Prior to joining the firm, Monique was a senior executive in the telecom, health and information technology industry for most of her 34-year career. Most recently, she was the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Chief Legal and Governance Officer of TELUS Corporation. At her most recent and previous roles at TELUS, Monique led a number of corporate functions, including legal services, human resources, privacy and compliance, government relations, regulatory affairs, sustainability, social and media relations, sponsorships and events and real estate. Monique was also the driving force behind TELUS' efforts to provide greater diversity at the board level.
Monique serves on a number of boards including the TMX Group Ltd., Alamos Gold, Innergex Renewable Energy and Industrial Alliance Financial Group. She serves as a director of the Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation of Montréal and previously served as a director of the Board of the Cancer Research Society. Monique is also a past board member of the Bank of Canada, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and of the TELUS Vancouver Community Board and a Trustee of the Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund.
In 2002, Monique was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal; in 2015, she was inducted into the Women's Executive Network Hall of Fame after being named to their Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada list for three consecutive years; in 2016, she was honoured as Women in Communications and Technology's Woman of the Year; and in 2018, she received the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Canadian General Counsel Awards ceremony.
Born in Montréal, Québec, Monique is a graduate of the University of Montréal Law School and holds a master's degree in politics from Oxford University where she was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship.
